Lawyer Johnnie Cochran
Attorney Johnnie Cochran's 1996 book-promotion tour included a stop in the San Francisco Bay Area. With childhood ties to the Bay Area (he lived and attended elementary school in Alameda), he was interviewed over lunch in his room at the San Francisco Ritz Carlton. A very nice man, who wanted to promote racial harmony (in his book he wrote extensively about the two-ness of being a successful black man), he was known for being part of the O.J. Simpson Dream Team.

US Dept of Interior Secretary Ken Salazar
US Dept. of Interior Secretary Ken Salazar and me at the Big Branch National Wildlife Reserve in Lacombe, LA. From Sep to Oct 2010, I assisted the US Coast Guard with recovery response public affairs following the Deepwater Horizon disaster in the Gulf of Mexico. Hours were long (6 days, 1 off and 12 hours each day - mine was an "easy" shift), yet the free time afforded myriad opportunities to explore one of the nation's most lively and globally renowned cities - including its vibrant, robust neighboring towns and intricate, mystical bayous.

US Coast Guard Adm. Paul Zunkunft at the Deepwater Horizon Recovery JIC: Adm. Zunkunft replaced (ret.) Adm. Thad Allen in leading the multi-agency/ state/ county/ city response to the worst environmental disaster in US history. The JIC (Joint Information Center) was the conduit for resource gathering from field and other on-the-scene command posts and distribution to media, government officials and the world.
