Another member of the US Coast Guard Deepwater Horizon oil response team: Capt. Walker is the Commanding Officer of the USCG National Strike Force. Capt. Walker made a special point of coming and introducing himself to me, because he had "heard about [my] incredible work." It was a humbling yet inspiring moment - to be recognized and appreciated all in the same - at by someone of such high command. Semper paratus!

NASCAR driver Bobby Labonte helps Clorox promote employee safety at an employee safety event in 2011; Clorox is one of Mr. Labonte's main sponsors. Mr. Labonte's handshake: incredibly, incredibly strong! Results of having a job requiring you to grip a steering wheel at 100+ MPH for protracted amounts of time. I asked him if he loved simulated/video auto racing. He does and plays r-fractor.

Heralded comedians Dick Gregory and Paul Mooney launched their 2012 CONSCIOUS Tour in Oakland in May. I wrote each's bio for a souvenir book and was thrilled by the honor of the task. This picture was shot during the Tour's last night in Oakland before leaving for New Orleans. (l-r) Mooney's cousin Carolyn Himes, Paul Mooney, Me, Dick Gregory and SF Bay Area jazz musician Muziki Roberson.

My first place of employment in Vermont: the Office of State Treasurer Beth Pearce - a great lady.

Legendary black cartoonist Morrie Turner and I met ~1983, shortly after I returned to Calif. from Washington, DC. His work has appeared around the world; as the first nationally syndicated black cartoonist, he has inspired countless other artists. I created and managed his first Facebook Page. He died January 2014. This picture was taken in December 2013 at his 90th birthday party.
